SYNOPSIS

Only a few fans were able to witness the return of David Gilmour to the Pompeii amphitheater for two incredible performances in July 2016, but from September 29 all fans will be able to experience them, with the publication of the recording of those concerts.

The Blu-ray and DVD include highlights from concert performances from both shows, shot in 4k by director Gavin Elder. The audio, available on CD and LP, was mixed by Andy Jackson and David Gilmour, assisted by Damon Iddins. The formats are around 148 minutes each, with over 2 additional hours of material included in the Deluxe Blu-ray Box.

The special nature of this recording is indisputable since, at the time of the concerts, it was the 45th anniversary of the film 'Live at Pompeii' by Adrian Maben: a film showing the recording of Gilmour's closed-door concert with his former band, Pink Floyd, at the same
amphitheatre, and which is still considered a cult object today.

Unlike that 1971 concert, Gilmour's spectacular performances on July 7 and 8, 2016 in Pompeii were with an audience, making David Gilmour the first artist in history to perform for an audience in the amphitheater itself. since the days of the gladiators.

In Gilmour's words, Pompeii''It's a magical place and to go back there and see the stage and the arena was pretty overwhelming. It's a ghost place.''

This release includes highlights from both concerts; songs from Gilmour's solo career included on the albums Rattle that Lock and On an Island, plus Pink Floyd classics like Wish you were here, Comfortably Numb and One of These Days, the latter being the only song to also be performed by the band in the 1971 film.

It will also show special moments that were experienced at Gilmour's concerts in Pompeii, such as his great performance of The Great Gig in the Sky, Pink Floyd's great hit included on the eighth album by the British band (The Dark Side Of The Moon) who has rarely been performed solo by David Gilmour.

David Gilmour Live at Pompeii shows the spectacular audiovisual experience that took place at both concerts in July 2016, which included the display of a gigantic circular cyclorama used as a screen, as well as laser effects, fireworks and stellar performances that recalled to the mythical rock band.

The Live At Pompeii cover art was directed by Gavin Elder under the creative direction of Polly Samson, with photography by Anna Wloch and design by Steve Knee of Blade Design. All versions of the release include the photo handouts, including live y photos of the venue taken by Polly Samson, Sarah Lee and Ana Wloch.
