ARNOLD LAYNE (Barrett)

Arnold Layne had a strange hobby
collecting clothes
Moonshine washing line
They suit him fine
On the wall hung a tall mirror
Distorted view, see through baby blue
Oh Arnold Layne
It's not the same, it takes two to know
Two to know, two to know
Why can't you see?
Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne
Now he's caught - a nasty sort of person
They gave him time
Doors bang - chain gang - he hates it
Oh Arnold Layne
It's not the same, it takes two to know
Two to know, two to know
Why can't you see?
Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne
Don't do it again.

CANDY AND A CURRANT BUN (Barrett)

Oh my girl sitting in the sky
Go buy candy and a currant bun
I like to see you run
Lay back
Don't talk to me
Please, just fuck with me
Please, you know I'm feeling friar
It's true, sun shining very bright
It's you, I'm gonna love tonight
Ice cream tastes good in the afternoon
Ice cream tastes good if you eat it soon
Don't touch me child
Please, know you drive me wild
Please you know, I'm feeling friar
Don't try another cat
Don't go where other you must know why
Very, very, very friar
Oh my girl sitting in the sun
Go buy candy and a currant bun
I like to see you run
Like that.

Oh my girl sitting in the sun
Go shopping, sweets and a currant bun
I like it, to see you run
Likewise…
Oooh don't talk to me
Please just fuck with me
Please you know I'm feeling fragile
It's true, the sun shines very bright
It is you, what I am going to love tonight
Ice cream tastes good in the afternoon
Ice cream, it tastes good if you eat soon
Oooh, don't touch me girl
Please, you know that you make me wild
Please you know I'm feeling fragile
Do not try with another cat
Do not go where you know that others know why
Very, very, very fragile
Oh my girl sitting in the sun
Go shopping, sweets and a currant bun
I like it, to see you run
In addition.

SEE EMILY PLAY (Barrett)

Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh
She often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for May
See Emily play
Soon after dark Emily cries, ah ooh
Gazing through trees in sorrow hardly a sound till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for May
See Emily play
Put on a gown that touches the ground, ah ooh
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for May
See Emily play.

Emily tries, but the don't understand
She usually strives to take
borrow someone's dreams
more until the next day
there is no other day
let's try another way
Or you'll go crazy and you can play
Freely only in May
Look how Emily plays
Soon after dark crying by Emily
Who stares through the
trees that lament with
difficulty through a sound until the morning
there is no other day
let's try another way
Or you'll go crazy and you can play
Freely only in May
Look how Emily plays
Dressed in a long dress that touches the ground
Float on a river forever and for always, Emily
there is no other day
let's try another way
Or you'll go crazy and you can play
Freely only in May
Look how Emily plays.

THE SCARECROW (Barrett)

The black and green scarecrow
As everyone knows
He stood with a bird on his hat and straw everywhere.
He didn't care.
He stood in a field where barley grows.
His head did not think
His arms didn't move
Except when the
wind cut up
Rough and mice ran around on the ground
He stood in a field where barley grows.
The black and green scarecrow
is sadder than me
But now he's resigned to his fate
'Cause life's not unkind
He doesn't mind.
He stood in a field where barley grows.

The black and green scarecrow
That everyone knows
I was standing with a bird
in his hat.
And full of straw on all sides
He didn't care...
I was in a field where barley grew
His head did not think
His arms didn't move
Except when
the wind shook him violently
And a mouse ran across the floor
I was in a field where barley grew
The black and green scarecrow is sadder than me
But now he's resigned to his fate
because life is not cruel
He does not care
I was in a field where barley grew.

APPLES AND ORANGES (Barrett)

Got a flip-top pack of cigarettes in her pocket
Feeling good at the top
Shopping in sharp shoes
Walking in the sunshine town feeling very cool
But the butchers and the bakers in the supermarket stores
Getting everything she wants from the supermarket stores
Apples and oranges
Apples and oranges
Cornering neatly she trips up sweetly
To meet the people
She's on time again
And then
I catch her by the eye then I stop and have to think
What a funny thing to do 'cause I'm feeling very pink
Apples and oranges
Apples and oranges
I love her
she loves me
see you
see you
Thought you might know
I'm the lorry driver man
She's on the run
Down by the river side
feeding ducks by the afternoon tide
(quack quack)
Apples and oranges
Apples and oranges
Apples and oranges.

He managed to open the pack of cigarettes in his pocket
feeling good on top
buying pointe shoes
walking in the town of dawn
feeling very good
But the butchers and bakers in the supermarket stores
they get everything she wants from supermarket stores
Apples and oranges
apples and oranges.
Cleverly cornered it traveled very smoothly
to meet people
she is on time again
and then I'll grab her by the eye
then I will stop and I will have to think
What a fun thing to do because I'm feeling so pink!
Apples and oranges
apples and oranges.
I love her
she loves me
I look at her, I look at her.
You thought you'd like to know
I am the trucker
this one is on the way
under the river
feeding the ducks in the evening tide
Apples and oranges
apples and oranges.
apples and oranges.

PAINT BOX (Wright)

Last night I had too much to drink
Sitting in a club with so many fools
playing to rules
Trying to impress but feeling rather empty
I had another drink
Drink-a-drink-a-drink-a-drink
What a way to spend that evening
They all turn up with their friends
playing the game
But in the scene I should have been
Far away
Away - away - away - away - away
Getting up, I feel as if I'm remembering this scene before
I open the door to an empty room
Then I forget
The telephone rings and someone speaks
She would very much like to go out to a show
So what can I do - I can't think what to say
She sees through anyway
Away - away - away - away - away
Out of the front door I go
Traffic's moving rather slow
Arriving late, there she waits
Looking very angry, as cross as she can be
Be-a-be-a-be-a-be-a-be
Getting up, I feel as if I'm remembering this scene before
I open the door to an empty room
Then I forget.

Last night I drank a lot
sitting in a club with so many fools
playing rule
trying to impress and feeling somewhat empty
I had another drink
What a way to spend this afternoon
you don't bend with his friends
playing his game
here on the scene or should be
very far
Getting up first without remembering
where have i been before
I open the door of an empty room
and then I forget
The phone rings and someone speaks
she would like to go very much
go out to a show
so what can i do i cant think what to say
she sees through anyway
Outside at the front door I go
traffic moves rather slowly
arriving late
there she waits looking very angry
as angry as she can be
Getting up, I feel like I'm reminiscing
this scene before
I open the door to an empty room
and then I forget.

IT WOULD BE SO NICE (Wright)

It would be so nice
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
To meet, sometimes
Everybody wakes, and in the morning
Hot tea and can't stop yawning
Pass the butter please.
Have you ever read the Daily Standard?
Reading all about the plane that's landed
Upside down?
And no one knows what I did today
There can be no other way
But I would just like to say
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
To meet sometime
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
To meet sometime
Everybody cares about the weather
And everybody should know better
What a waste of time
Everybody lives beneath the ceiling
Living out a dream that sends them reeling
To a distant place
But no one knows what I did today
There can be no other way
But I would just like to say
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
To meet sometime
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
To meet sometime
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
It would be so nice
To meet sometimes.

go for a drink...

JULIA DREAM (Waters)

Sunlight bright upon my pillow
Lighter than an eiderdown
Will she let the weeping willow
Wind his branches round
Julia dream, dreamboat queen, queen of all my dreams
Every night I turn the light out
Waiting for the velvet bride
Will the scaly armadillo
Find me where I'm hiding
Julia dream, dreamboat queen, queen of all my dreams
Will the misty master break me
Will the key unlock my mind
Will the following footsteps catch me
Am I really dying
Julia dream, dreamboat queen, queen of all my dream.

Sunlight on my pillow
lighter than a duvet
the weeping willow was left
the wind around you the branches
Julia dreams, bonbon queen,
queen of all my dreams
Every night turn off the light
Waiting for the velvet bride
will be the scaly armadillo
whoever finds me where I am hidden
Julia dreams, bonbon queen,
queen of all my dreams
will be the master of the mystery breaks me
It will be the unlock code for my account
that the following steps answer me
Am I really dying?
Julia dreams, bonbon queen,
Forever... Queen of all my dreams

POINT ME AT THE SKY (Gilmour, Waters)

Hey Eugene!
This is Henry McClean
And I've finished my beautiful flying machine
And I'm ringing to say
That I'm leaving and maybe
You'd like to fly with me
And hide with me, baby
Isn't it strange
How little we change
Isn't it sad we're insane
Playing the games that we know and in tears
The games we've been playing for thousands and thousands and
Pointing to the cosmic glider
``Pull this plastic glider higher
Light the fuse and stand right back''
He cried ``This is my last goodbye.''
Point me to the sky and tell it fly
Point me to the sky and tell it fly
Point me to the sky and tell it fly
And if you survive till two thousand and five
I hope you're exceedingly thin
For if you are stout you will have to breathe out
While the people around you breathe in
People pressing on might say
It's something that I hate to say
I'm slipping down to eat the ground
A little refuge on my brain
Point me to the sky and tell it to fly.

And I'm playing to say
That I'm going to leave and maybe
that you would like to fly with me
And hide with me, baby
It is not weird
Of how little to change
Ain't it sad that you're crazy
Play the games we know and in tears
The games we've been playing for thousands and thousands and
Aiming at the glider cosmic force
`Pull this plastic glider higher
Light the fuse and stand to the right of the back"
He shouted `This is my last goodbye.
I point to the sky and tell you to fly
I point to the sky and tell you to fly
I point to the sky and tell you to fly
And if you can survive to two thousand and five
I hope you are very thin
If they are solid they have to breathe
While the people around you breathe in
The people pressing might say
It's something I don't like to say

A little shelter in my brain
I point to the sky and tell you to fly.

WHEN THE TIGERS BROKE FREE (Waters)

It was just before dawn
One miserable morning in black '44
When the forward commander
Was told to sit tight
When he asked that his men be withdrawn
And the generals gave thanks
As the other ranks
Held back the enemy tanks
for a while
And the Anzio bridgehead was held for the price
Of a few hundred ordinary lives.
And kind old King George sent Mother a note
When he heard that Father was gone.
It was, I recall, in the form of a scroll,
With gold leaf and all
And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs hidden away
And my eyes still grow damp
To remember His Majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp.
It was dark all around,
There was frost in the ground
When The Tigers Broke Free.
And no one survived
From the Royal Fusiliers,
Company, "C"
They were all left behind,
Most of them dead,
The rest of them dying
And that's how the High Command
Took my daddy
From me.

When the commander in front
who ordered to stay there

And the generals gave thanks
Like the rest of the ranks
for having returned the enemy tanks
for a while
And the Anzio bridgehead was held for the price
Of a couple hundred ordinary lives.
And good old King George sent a note to my Mother
When he found out about my father's disappearance...
It was, I remember, in the form of a scroll,
