BIOGRAPHY

We make a brief incursion into the trajectory of this British group, founded in 1965 by Syd Barrett (guitar and vocals), Roger Waters (bass and vocals), Richard Wright (keyboard and vocals), Nick Mason (drums and percussion) and Bob Klose (guitar and vocals).

Klose's presence was almost testimonial, since he was only there for a few months, although they recorded a demo with the songs Lucy Leave y I'm A King Bee.

Ruta Floyd

Before being called Pink Floyd they went by different names such as The Tea Set, Sigma 6 and The Abdabs.

The name of Pinkf Floyd comes from the union of two blues singers, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.

Their first single was Arnold Layne, after which they signed a contract with Emi, recording their first album The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn in 1967, being Syd Barrett their main songwriter.

But Syd's mental and drug problems led to his departure from the group, being replaced by a friend of his from his youth, David Gilmour, leaving Roger Waters in command of the group and to a lesser extent Richard Wright.

Their second studio album was A Saucerful Of Secrets, now without Syd's presence, although there is a song with his signature, Jugband Blues.

Later, with the consecration of Gilmour as an accomplished guitarist and his compositional contribution, More, an Ibiza-based soundtrack,

Continue with Ummagumma, a double album with part live and part studio, Atom Heart Mother, a suite with classic contributions, Meddle, a basic album where the floyd sound begins to take shape, Obscured By Clouds, another soundtrack set in Nueva Guinea, until arriving, for many his masterpiece, The Dark Side Of The Moon.

It was a complete success, appearing on the Billboard charts for 741 consecutive weeks with more than 50 million copies sold.

Here the leadership of the group by Waters was already noticeable, being the author of the lyrics of the album, beginning an era that would culminate years later.

Their next recording is Wish You Where Here, dedicated to the figure of Syd Barrett, due to a feeling of guilt on the part of the group members for Syd's departure, his traumatic departure always weighing on their consciences.

With the purchase of an old block of sacristies, they founded Brittania Row, creating their own recording studio in which they shaped another  project, Animals, inspired by George Orwell's book titled Rebellion In The Farm.

And we come to another masterpiece in his career, The Wall, a double album that would lead to one of the most spectacular tours in history.

But that he would leave another victim on his way, Richard Wright, who left the group due to his disagreements with Waters, although he participated in the tour, albeit as a salaried musician.

With the group completely dominated by Waters, we reached a crucial moment in their career, The Final Cut which meant the abandonment of Waters from the group, thinking that with his departure the group would reach the end of its career.

But further from his thoughts, David Gilmour and Nick Mason revived the band without his presence, resulting in a painful legal process with Waters for the disappearance of the group, leaving them winners, but Waters obtaining the rights of his favorite son, The Wall.

Ruta Floyd

Recruiting Richard Wright as a session musician and later as a member of the band for the new tour, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason came out, which led them to visit Spain for the first time.

In this way he now acquired the leadership of the group, David Gilmour, having three different leaders in his career, Syd, Roger and David.

Years later they released another album, recorded mostly on the Astoria, Gilmour's study ship anchored in the Tamesis, entitled The Division Bell, this time with Wright as an official member of the group, with another tour with passage through Spain.

In 2005, as a result of the Live 8 macro-concerts, Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason met at Hyde Park to perform four songs, as if leaving their problems and differences on the back burner, leaving everything forgotten.

Two years later, in 2007 they reunited for a tribute to Syd Barrett, but Waters performed alone and Gilmour, Wright and Mason together.

On November 10, 2014, after 20 years of their previous work The Divsion Bell, Pink Floyd to everyone's surprise, publishes the album The Endless River, based on the 1993 recording sessions as a tribute to Richard Wright, announcing the same time the end of Pink Floyd as a band.
